I recently took an unexpected trip to see the Hoover Dam bridge, which was built to connect Arizona and Nevada.
Experiencing this in person opened up a wave of thoughts and reflections.
Two states so close to one another but separated by a parting river that travels a different direction with its own objective.
However, someone had a vision to design a solution to achieve what would seem to be impossible to most.
I want to think someones imagination inspired them to take a risk and create a plan on how to help themselves and others get from one side to the other.
Success is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Taking risks isn’t about blindly throwing yourself into something; it’s about doing the leg work beforehand to know what you want, and what you need to do to get it, in order to fully embrace the opportunity when it comes your way.
The Hoover Dam is a spectacular reminder that if we don’t design a plan for ourselves, we could fall into someone else’s plan, a be carried to the unknown, just as the river flowed deep below.
